So you want to know a little about me? Either that or youve clicked on the link by accident. Well, Im currently working as a research fellow at Liverpool John Moores University in the school of computer and mathematical sciences. Im now working on various projects relating to security, secure component composition, networks and ubiquitous computing, amongst others. For more information about this, take a look at the Network and Information Security Technology Lab site or my research pages. Before moving to Liverpool I worked for Codemasters programming computer games. I helped in the production of Race Driver, a fantastic touringcarsracing type game. DavidI worked at Codemasters for about a year and a half. Before that I was doing a PhD at the University of Birmingham, researching under Richard Kaye. The subject of my thesis involved a particular area of mathematics called model theory. I studied a mathematical structure known as Presburger arithmetic or ZGroups as they are also called, which is effectively the addition part of arithmetic. Although all of the models which I looked at contain the integers, they will also often have extra infinite elements larger than any of the integers but which behave in similar ways. I looked especially at automorphisms of the models, which constitute mappings which go from a model to itself; in other words they rearrange the elements of the model whilst still preserving its essential properties.
