I still own several of these classics, specifically an issue 2 Spectrum 48 mounted in Lo Profile Professional keyboard with internal power supply and a Spectrum 128+. Another original version was inherited years ago by my parents for those long winter nights. Originally, I bought one of the first 48K Speccys from England soon after they appeared. Eventually, I had an issue 1, issue 2 and issue 3 which referred to slightly different hardware patches and ROMs. I was none too thrilled about the printer options, however, and hacked my own businterface to a standard parallel 9pin printer first a Seikosha, later a Citizen 120D, the latter being an excellent nearLQ printer that served me well for many years. The hacked interface box also provided a useful place to put a reset button. In due time, I mounted one of the Speccys in a LoProfile Professional keyboard, which was very nice because it let me mount a proper power switch and a toroidtrafo power supply inside the case. I also extended an outlet from the switch so that it would also turn on or off anything else, such as the TV, a tape recorder, or whatever.
